Lirids on the night of April 22-23, 2020

The April Lyrids are a meteor shower lasting from April 16 to April 26 each year. The radiant of the meteor shower is located in the constellation Lyra, near its brightest star, Vega. The peak of the shower is typically around April 22 each year...

Earth-grazer over Eastern Europe
on April 8, 2020

An Earth-grazing fireball (or Earth-grazer) is a fireball, a very bright meteor that enters Earth’s atmosphere and leaves again. Some fragments may impact Earth as meteorites, if the meteor starts to break up or explodes in mid-air. These phenomena are then called Earth-grazing meteor processions and bolides. Famous examples of Earth-grazers are the 1972 Great Daylight Fireball and the Meteor Procession of July 20, 1860...

Perseids Meteor Swower 2018

The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle. The meteors are called the Perseids because the point from which they appear to hail (called the radiant) lies in the constellation Perseus...

Clouds

The sun rises, a new day begins. And together with it, the processes of intensive cloud formation begin.

Bright flashes of dead Telkom-3

Telkom-3 was launched along with Ekspress MD2 by a Proton-M rocket with Briz-M upper stage on 6 August 2012 at 19:31 UTC. The satellites were launched from Site 81/24 at Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The first three stages of the Proton launched worked as expected and the satellites were attached to the Briz-M upper stage which would transfer them into geosynchronous orbit. The Briz-M undertakes a series of four burns with coasting stages to do this. The third burn was due to be 18 minutes long but the engines cut out after 7 seconds, leaving the satellites in unusable orbits...

Geminids Meteor Swower 2017

The Geminids are meteor shower caused by the object 3200 Phaethon, which is thought to be a Palladian asteroid with a "rock comet" orbit. This would make the Geminids, together with the Quadrantids, the only major meteor showers not originating from a comet. The meteors from this shower are slow moving, can be seen in December and usually peak around December 13-14, with the date of highest intensity being the morning of December 14...

Flying around Copernicus

Due to the fact that on different dates Copernicus was observed at slightly different angles, we managed to restore the spatial information about the object and create a digital model of the relief. The task was not entirely trivial, because unlike the spacecraft survey, we were severely limited in the angles of the object being shot. In addition, although we tried to use images with close phases, the slightly different position of the shadows still introduced additional difficulties. Nevertheless, by trial and error, we managed to achieve a certain result...

The Moon. Live view through the telescope

This live video, taken on Apr 27, 2015 and Aug 6, 2015 at pretty good seeing, shows the view of the Moon from a 360mm telescope...

The First Quarter Moon

This video shows high resolution lunar landscapes in motion. The images were taken around the phase of the first quarter. We recommend switching on the sound. The ambient music by New Age Sound Environment and conversations of the participants of Apollo 11 Mission should promote a good relaxation...

Jupiter (August, 2010)

This movie is a result of the processing of shootings of Jupiter in 230mm reflector telescope from 11 to 13 August, 2010 and shows us the view of the planet at this time...
